UNIVERSE 03

From a black screen and no admin control to a full multi-tenant platform

Lakatat — Platform Rescue & Rebuild

Lakatat is a rescue case study: I inherited a video/media platform in a broken state and rebuilt it into a fully manageable, multi-tenant system.

My Role

Rescue engineer and full-stack rebuild.

Focus

Debugging, dashboard rebuild, and feature expansion.

Key Points

Rescued a broken platform, rebuilt the admin dashboard from scratch, added Stories/Playlists/comments/likes, full multi-tenant user management.

Case Study

Problem & Constraints

The platform I inherited had a black-screen bug and slow browsing, and its admin dashboard was little more than a read-only view — there was no real way to edit the footer, manage pages, or control any registered member from inside it.

Solution & Decisions

I fixed the black-screen and speed issues first, then rebuilt the admin dashboard from the ground up so every part of the site — pages, footer, social links, videos, and users — could actually be managed from it. On top of that I added new features: Stories, Playlists (series), visitor comments and likes on both videos and stories, full multi-role/multi-tenant user management (password changes, suspension, deletion), a complete new landing page, ad-space management, and a Google AdSense indexing API call wired into the front end.

Outcome & Results

A platform that went from unmanageable and buggy to a fully controllable, multi-tenant system with a real feature set — a clear before/after story of taking over broken code and turning it into something the owner can actually run.

Execution Steps

  1. 1Fix the black-screen bug
  2. 2Resolve slow browsing performance
  3. 3Rebuild the admin dashboard to control every page and the footer
  4. 4Add site settings for social media links
  5. 5Build Stories and Playlists sections
  6. 6Enable visitor comments and likes on videos and stories
  7. 7Add full multi-role/multi-tenant user management
  8. 8Build a complete new landing page
  9. 9Add ad-space management
  10. 10Wire a Google AdSense indexing API call into the front end

Project FAQs

Was this platform built from scratch?

No — it was inherited in a broken state and rebuilt. That rescue-and-rebuild work is the core of this case study.

What couldn't the old admin dashboard do?

It was effectively read-only — no real editing of the footer, pages, or registered members.
